Description
The Chevrolet Camaro is a pony car type car built by General Motors in four generations from 1967 to 2002. Production resumed in 2009 for a fifth version, followed by a sixth in 2016. The Camaro was built to compete with the Ford Mustang.
When Ford presented its Mustang in April 1964, GM staff were less than impressed, convinced that there was no market for this type of vehicle and that with its 'small' coupe the long-standing rival would meet a sinister fate . Their hope will be short-lived; Just four months after launch, 100.000 Mustangs rolled off the production line. The atmosphere at General Motors management will deteriorate considerably. They must do better and faster to regain their first place in the national market. In a hurry, Chevrolet created the XP836 project nicknamed “Panther”. Its very pure lines, free of fringes, harmoniously combine volumes and curves with more angular elements.
